Hauora

GOAL: Develop a sense of unity and enhance professional learning networks for leaders and staff.

 Hauora is a Māori philosophy of health unique to New Zealand. It comprises taha tinana - physical well-being, taha hinengaro - Mental and emotional well-being, taha whanau- Social well-being, and taha wairua - Spiritual well-being.

 

Dr Mason Durie's whare tapawha model compares hauora to the four walls of a whare, each wall representing a different dimension:

 

 

He Oranga ngakau/kitau He pikinga waiora

Positive feelings in your heart,

 will raise your sense of self worth


To support kura and kaiako to provide children with experiences, tools, ideas and resources to manage and improve wellbeing outcomes.
